About the role
Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) work with internal and external customers as field-based scientific and clinical experts who strategically support dissemination of medical scientific information. MSLs function as a regional medical contact between the organization and key external customers to further scientific exchange.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national/regional key opinion leaders (KOLs) and customers.
- Implement strategic, scientific, and educational initiatives to achieve Medical and Commercial objectives.

- Care product areas include Antiseptic products, biosurgery (hemostatic agents) hair removal, ChloraPrep, and surgical irrigation.
- Develop education and training programs to improve patient outcomes and increase understanding of breast surgery and treatment options.
- Work with BD IP/Biosurgery Sales Consultants, BD Institutional Representatives, and BD Retail Representatives to execute educational presentations and objectives.
- Interact with various customer segments via one-on-one interactions, small group discussions, formulary review committees, and educational symposium presentations.
- Attend assigned scientific and medical congresses to capture information relevant to the organization’s scientific platforms and report this information to internal stakeholders during debrief meetings.
- Aid in facilitating KOL (Key Opinion Leader) involvement in national, regional, and local educational forums including advisory boards, investigator meetings, educational symposia, and sponsored promotional programs.
- Aid in the identification of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.
- Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientific research, and publications.
- Deploy a blend of proactive (planned educational sessions, advisory boards, congress symposia) and reactive (data inquiry response, ad hoc consultation) engagement tactics.
- Use diverse engagement channels: in-person or virtual KOL meetings, collaborative research, educational events, surgical congresses, and digital platforms.
- Collect, document, and communicate insights from stakeholder interactions to internal teams, continually refining the overall medical strategy and supporting leadership in plastic and reconstructive surgery therapeutics.
- Maintain strict compliance and ethical standards, ensuring clear separation between scientific engagement and promotional activity.
