Medical Science Liaison II - Pacific Northwest, Screening

About the Role

Guardant Health is a leading precision oncology company focused on guarding wellness and giving every person more time free from cancer. The Medical Science Liaison II (MSL II) serves as a scientific expert supporting academic and community physicians, KOLs, and select health system stakeholders. This is a remote role supporting the Pacific Northwest territory, inclusive of WA, OR, CO, ID, MT, UT, WY. The role requires frequent travel for in-person engagement with academic and community healthcare providers. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory and be able to travel throughout the region as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with KOLs across academic and community settings.
• Engage KOLs in scientific dialogue to deepen understanding of the company’s technologies and products.
• Begin engaging select health system stakeholders (e.g., clinical leaders) to support broader adoption.
• Develop, refine, and present scientific content (slides, abstracts, and data summaries) to external audiences.
• Lead presentations at regional meetings, CME events, and scientific forums.
• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment of all scientific communications with company strategy.
• Act as a trusted scientific resource for Sales, Marketing, and Market Access teams.
• Provide regular field insights to inform strategy, including customer needs, treatment trends, and competitive intelligence.
• Support planning and execution of advisory boards and scientific forums.
• Identify potential research collaborations with KOLs.
• Contribute to publication planning and support data dissemination efforts.
• Actively participate in broader Medical Affairs initiatives and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Mentor MSL I peers informally and support onboarding and best practice sharing.
• Demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of work.

Qualifications

• Typically bachelor’s with ~8–12 years (or 6–8 with master’s / 3–5 with PhD/PharmD/MD) diagnostic or pharma experience required.
• Typically 2–5+ years of experience in MSL or related medical affairs role.
• Demonstrated experience in KOL engagement and scientific presentation delivery.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to operate independently and manage territory priorities effectively.
• Willingness to travel up to ~60%.

Pay

The annualized base salary ranges for this role are listed below. This range does not include benefits or, if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, education, job-related skills, job duties, and business need.

• Primary Location: Remote - Open Position (USA) Base Pay Range: $164,900 - $226,750
• Other US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $164,900 - $226,750
• If the role is performed in Colorado, the pay range is: $164,900 - $226,750

Schedule

This role requires frequent travel for in-person engagement, with a willingness to travel up to ~60%.

Hybrid Work Model: Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
