Job Summary
The Dendreon Medical Science Liaison is a credentialed therapeutic and disease state expert who engages in scientific exchange with leaders in the areas of uro-oncology, oncology, and immuno-oncology. The MSL provides highly technical scientific information to national and regional external stakeholders to ensure their understanding of our product and gathers insights on areas of therapeutic interest to Dendreon. This position is responsible for the Central US territory, which includes WI, IL, MN, IA, MS, AK, LA, OK, ND, SD, NE, KS, and TX.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with health care professionals (HCPs)
- Identify, map, and strategically engage key external experts (KOLs, investigators, and HCPs)
- Develop long-term scientific partnerships through non-promotional exchange
- Provide disease state and therapeutic awareness to urology and oncology thought leaders
- Respond to scientific questions from thought leaders and HCPs
- Represent Dendreon at scientific conferences and gather actionable insights
- Lead and participate in Advisory Boards and internal strategic planning meetings
Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory medical plan aligned with Dendreon objectives
- Generate and communicate actionable insights from field interactions
- Serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams (Clinical, Market Access, Commercial)
- Translate insights into recommendations to inform medical and lifecycle strategy
- Participate in the conduct of clinical trials
- Identify and support investigators and clinical operations
- Identify evidence gaps and contribute to lifecycle management
Data, Insights, and Compliance
- Capture and document insights using approved systems (e.g., Veeva CRM)
- Interpret clinical data, RWE, and competitive intelligence
- Ensure all interactions are compliant with FDA and PhRMA guidelines
Therapeutic Expertise and Differentiation
- Serve as an expert in cellular immunotherapy and autologous treatments
- Maintain deep knowledge of prostate cancer competitive landscape
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, DNP) or equivalent
- 3 years related experience in FDA-regulated industry
- 2 years of clinical experience with preference for oncology, urology, or immunology outside of education and training
- Strong overall written and verbal communication skills; strong demonstrated presentation skills
- Proficient in all MS Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience strongly preferred, with at least 1+ years in a field-based MSL role
- Established relationships with urologists, oncologists, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the defined Northeast territory strongly preferred
- Experience in prostate cancer, uro-oncology, immuno-oncology, or cellular therapy preferred
Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
- Travel will be required and could be up to 50%, including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel
- Must reside within the designated territory for the posted position
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Intermittent walking to gain access to work areas
- Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities
- Vision sufficient to use a computer, to read written materials and to complete paperwork activities
- Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Limited exposure to (2ºC - 8ºC); (-20ºC); (-75ºC); (-196ºC) areas
- Must have the ability to work around laboratories and manufacturing areas and equipment
- Must have the ability to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment with exposure to blood, blood products or OPIM (other potentially infectious materials)
