Medical Science Liaison
About the role
Adneuris Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tris Pharma, is a biopharmaceutical company committed to delivering innovative therapies for patients suffering from acute and chronic pain and addiction. This field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) position covers a large Western U.S. region and serves as an extension of Medical Affairs. You will leverage your scientific expertise to ensure compliant communication and education on the company’s marketed and emerging product portfolio, meeting the educational and professional needs of key customers.
The MSL develops and maintains professional relationships with prominent healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key decision makers, engaging in scientific exchanges and strategic discussions related to medical/clinical, health economics, and outcomes research (HEOR) data. Stakeholders include individual physicians, clinicians, researchers, managed markets, medical and pharmacy directors, hospital decision-makers, formulary committees, consultant pharmacists, and state Medicaid decision-makers.
Responsibilities
- Conducts scientific exchange with prioritized stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Centers of Excellence (COEs), HCPs, patient advocacy groups, and societies in support of Medical Affairs strategies.
- Supports strategies as directed by medical plans and establishes a respected company presence in the neuroscience medical community.
- Establishes, cultivates, and maintains scientific relationships with stakeholders while developing a strong understanding of regional healthcare systems and clinical practices.
- Provides key scientific and clinical education and training on topics related to Medical Affairs strategies, such as appropriate products, disease state, burden of illness, and diagnostic scales.
- Supports interactions with investigators and potential investigators in conjunction with ongoing and planned clinical trials and evaluates Investigator Initiated Research proposals as appropriate.
- Contributes to the development of a regional, customer-centric tactical medical engagement plan to support Medical Affairs strategies.
- Conducts regular assessments of new and existing stakeholders to identify appropriate healthcare professionals for interaction.
- Collaborates with field-based Medical colleagues, Commercial colleagues, and across the organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in medical/biosciences (e.g., MD, DO, PharmD, PhD) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience required.
- Minimum of 1 year of MSL experience with a primary emphasis on field-based scientific exchange preferred.
- Strong broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge, as well as excellent presentation and teaching skills required.
- Excellent experience and confidence speaking about drug information and disease state treatment required.
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and appreciation for Commercial Operations, including Marketing and Sales strategies required.
- Ability to influence without direct authority required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Experience with pre-launch pharmaceutical activities preferred.
- Experience in Central Nervous System (CNS) or Pain therapeutic area preferred.
Schedule
This is a field-based position requiring travel by car and air up to 70% (typically 3–4 field days per week, occasionally on weekends).
Pay
Anticipated salary range: $150,000 to $180,000 per year. Base salary offered is contingent on assessment of the candidate’s education and experience level relative to the requirements of the position and a review of related industry standards and internal equity.
