Comfort Medical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coloplast, is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to join our growing team in or near Tigard, OR. This role involves interacting with medical facilities and providers’ offices to collect, manage, and scan medical record documentation into our database.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain customer medical records by collecting pertinent and relevant information, and uploading leads into the database.
- Review each medical record for missing documentation; verify physician’s notes for appropriate diagnosis to justify Comfort Medical’s service.
- Ensure the correct person has signed all paperwork, such as physician’s orders and other required documentation.
- Correct deficient documentation and ensure all required signatures are received and filed within the specified time frame.
- Call referral sources to obtain corrected, deficient, or missing documentation.
- Ensure accuracy of file components and scan documents into the system when applicable.
- Collect verbal orders, written copies of verbal orders, and authenticated doctor’s orders prior to billing for supplies.
- Identify and overcome objections to resolve complaints, ensuring customer retention and satisfaction.
- Identify and report errors and quality deficiencies to the manager.
- Fulfill requests by clarifying desired information, completing transactions, and forwarding requests when applicable.
- Maintain customer records by entering information accurately and completely.
- Keep equipment operational by following established procedures and reporting malfunctions.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
- Contribute ideas to resolve problems, better serve customers, and improve productivity.
- Communicate effectively with teammates to ensure high-quality and timely expedition of customer requests.
- Remain knowledgeable of Medicare policies and federal/state regulations affecting sales activities and interactions with physicians.
- Assist with shipping and other duties as required.
- High-performing employees may occasionally be asked to engage in overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
- Proficiency with clerical skills, including data entry and computer programs.
- Willingness to engage in telephone direct sales.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Call center experience is desired, as the position entails a high amount of customer interaction over the phone.

Pay
The starting hourly rate for this position is $21.92. Hired candidates may be eligible for additional compensation based on applicable experience and may also qualify for bonuses and/or incentives. Actual compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
