Medical Records Specialist

About the role

The ROI Specialist provides support at a client site for handling patient medical record requests, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review requestor information to determine records to be released and obtain patient data from various sources.
• Respond to phone inquiries and walk-in customers requesting medical records, logging details into the ROI On-Line database.
• Process urgent requests from physician offices, fax information as needed, and scan records into the system.
• Ensure compliance with site policies and handle cash payments when required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency in computer applications and data entry with internet experience.
• Ability to work independently, meet productivity goals, and pay close attention to detail.
• Strong verbal communication skills and dependability.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Experience in ROI or HIM and knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations are a plus.
