Responsibilities
- Maintain and distribute patient charts to the medical staff.
- Maintain and administer patient records, handling administrative tasks like scheduling and data entry.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and facilitate communication between patients, technologists and radiologists.
- File medical histories and other information in patient charts in proper order following Center guidelines.
- Scan documents, enter data, and file loose reports into patient charts.
- Arrange charts in terminal digit order and file in permanent file.
- Locate and send charts to requesting physicians or departments.
- Use computer to track chart inquiries and access other pertinent information.
- Answer general patient questions, assist with form completion, schedule or reschedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries about their visit.
- Process medical records release requests, handle billing for procedures, and perform data entry for patient information and imaging details.
- Act as a liaison between patients, technologists, and radiologists.
- Refer medical results questions to the clinical team and provide necessary documentation to radiologists.
- Ensure accuracy in record-keeping, maintain patient confidentiality, and adhere to all relevant HIPAA and security regulations.
- Repair torn charts by replacing torn pockets and broken fasteners.
- Keep Front Office Manager informed of critical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: 0 – 2 years of experience.
- Special Qualifications: Proficient typing skills, strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA, and general office procedures, excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills, ability to work professionally under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
- Additional Qualification: One year of medical records experience.
