Medical Radiology Tutor

Provides tutoring and study support services for all courses in the AAS and Certificate Medical Radiologic Technology Program throughout the 5 semesters of the MRT Program. Tutoring may be conducted in person, virtually via Zoom, and through Blackboard. Additional tutoring may be provided at LSCC designated x-ray laboratories. This is a grant-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

  • Provides academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group or individual setting.
  • Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject areas and improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
  • Attends periodic training or orientation sessions as required by faculty or director.
  • Provides evaluations and other reports as requested.
  • Documents student progress.
  • Assists students with the development of study skills necessary for academic success.
  • Helps foster positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
  • Motivates and supports students’ achievement and success.
  • Establishes and maintains rapport with assigned student(s).
  • Serves as a role model for students receiving services.
  • Fosters an inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensures successful performance, retention, and graduation of Radiologic Tech students.
  • Monitors academic progress and contacts faculty and staff throughout the semester as necessary to assist students.
  • Upholds professional ethical standards that do not breach confidentiality and student relationships.
  • Maintains an appropriate work schedule to accommodate participants.
  • Provides data to the Director when requested and in accordance with program requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher required with current credentials in Radiography with the ARRT.
  • Credentials in Radiography with the ARRT.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the work environment; tutoring dates and times may vary and must be outside of the scheduled RAD Tech course hours.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Cooperative and approachable attitude and demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively operate and utilize a computer and the internet.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Zoom, and Blackboard (preferred).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes nights and/or weekends, as needed, to assist with student tutorial needs.
  • Willingness to take initiative and commitment to a philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; to research and analyze information; and to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports.
  • Ability to use customer service initiatives to clients and campus community.

Pay

$19.76 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.

Schedule

Flexible schedule including nights and/or weekends as needed.
