Summary
Responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to patients. This role involves collaborating with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to design and implement treatment plans, calibrate and maintain radiation equipment, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Performs equipment calibration, maintenance and quality assurance (QA) testing on treatment devices to ensure they are operating within specified parameters, addressing technical issues or discrepancies, patient-specific quality assurance testing, and routine maintenance testing and troubleshooting equipment problems to minimize downtime.
- Supports treatment plan development and review, including collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists during the treatment planning process, review and approval of patient treatment plans, and ensuring accuracy and clinical protocol compliance of dosimetry calculations.
- Supervise special procedures, such as SRS/SBRT treatment sessions or brachytherapy procedures, and ability to cross-cover most clinical responsibilities.
- Professional development, clinical projects, and participation in Quality Improvement/Process Improvement.
Requirements
- Credentials: Essential Medical Physicist Qualified Medical Physicist
- Master's degree in in Medical Physics, Physics, Radiation Biology or related field.
- Minimum Experience: Successful completion of an approved residency program thru Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) is required prior to start date.
- ADDITIONAL POSITION LEVEL CREDENTIAL INFORMATION: Board eligible with completion of board certification or QMP within 2 years. American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified or board eligible within 2 years. Relevant certification as determined at position level.
