About the Role
UPMC Western Maryland’s Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Physicist to join a team of 1 radiation oncologist, 2 dosimetrists, 4 radiation therapists, and 1 CT simulation therapist. The Schwab Family Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer® and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers, offering state-of-the-art treatment on two Varian linacs (1 TrueBeam, 1 Trilogy) and one PET/CT simulation unit. Partial remote coverage may be discussed.
Responsibilities
- Oversee dosimetrists to ensure accurate, personalized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the radiation oncologist to plan and deliver patient treatments.
- Develop and direct quality-control programs for equipment and procedures.
- Ensure equipment functionality by taking precise measurements of the radiation beam.
- Perform clinical physics duties, including maintaining Commonwealth regulatory compliance and calibrating all radiation-therapy equipment.
Equipment and Technology
- 2 Varian linear accelerators (1 TrueBeam, 1 Trilogy)
- 1 PET/CT simulation unit
- Eclipse treatment-planning system with Aria record-and-verify database
Requirements
- Physical-science or engineering degree (medical physics preferred)
- Master’s degree required
- Two years of radiation-oncology physics experience required; five years preferred
Qualifications
- American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics or ABR board-eligible
