About the Role

Join ReDiscover’s Urgent Care Department and be part of a mission-driven organization that’s been transforming lives for over 50 years. As a non-profit community mental health center serving southeastern Jackson County, Missouri, we’re passionate about helping individuals impacted by mental illness or substance use find hope, support, and healing.

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of its kind in the Kansas City area, providing the community with immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the community's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first friendly face our clients see by greeting every client, visitor, and guest with professionalism, compassion, and respect while creating a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Keep the front office running efficiently by scheduling appointments, answering incoming calls, updating client information, processing payments, and completing registration and insurance paperwork.
  • Connect clients to the care they need by routing calls, coordinating referrals, and directing individuals to the appropriate programs and services.
  • Support daily clinic operations by maintaining accurate records, organizing front office workflows, and assisting the care team with administrative needs.
  • Protect client privacy and confidentiality by safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI) and adhering to HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Foster a positive team culture by communicating effectively, collaborating across departments, and contributing to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
  • Stay prepared to support our mission by completing required training, assisting with same-sex urine drug screens when needed, and taking on additional responsibilities that help serve our clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of administrative, customer service, or business office experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience serving clients in a healthcare, behavioral health, human services, or similar environment preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume phone calls and multitasking in a fast-paced setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn new technology and software systems.

Schedule

  • Full-time position consisting of three (3) 12-hour shifts each week, plus one (1) 8-hour shift every other week.
  • Regular schedule of Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., plus an 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday every other week.
  • Because our Urgent Care Clinic serves the community seven days a week, candidates must be available to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed.

We’re committed to your professional development and will support your growth as a Medical Office Receptionist through training, collaboration, and meaningful work.
