About the Role
This position involves conducting and supporting laboratory testing to aid in diagnosing and treating diseases, ensuring accuracy and proficiency in all procedures. The role requires applying professional knowledge of medical technology, including testing methodologies, quality assurance, and understanding disease significance.
Responsibilities
- Perform and report waived, moderate, and high complexity tests following SOPs.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, and verification of patient and specimen identity.
- Monitor Quality Control and Quality Management, investigate variances, and manage supplies efficiently.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, perform maintenance, and document procedures.
- Adhere to regulatory standards, perform competency assessments, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Support customer satisfaction by addressing issues and educating laboratory clients.
- Communicate critical results and maintain accurate documentation.
- Mentor new staff and students, and assume operational responsibilities in supervisor’s absence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field; certification (e.g., MT/MLS) or equivalent experience required.
- Current certification and state licensure as applicable.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment operation, and quality assurance.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and computer skills.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional growth.
This is a non-management role reporting to a supervisor, with responsibilities focused on technical proficiency, quality assurance, and team support to ensure accurate laboratory testing and patient care.
