About the role
This position is available on a part-time, PRN basis at Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center. Benefits eligibility is eligible.
Responsibilities
- Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.
- Maintains workflow and adjusts as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity, and appropriateness.
- Reports test results according to established policies.
- Calibrates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Monitors and corrects quality control issues as needed.
- Collects specimens from various patient groups following established protocols.
- Assists phlebotomists and support staff in specimen collection and processing.
- Improves laboratory procedures, policies, and processes.
- Ensures compliance with accrediting agency standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supports critical care departments with testing and specimen handling.
- Performs specialty testing in areas such as transfusion services, microbiology, and hematology.
- Provides support for disease-specific accreditation goals.
- Handles emergencies and high-acuity patient events with transfusion services, attending codes, and testing on irretrievable samples.
Requirements
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Associate's degree in Clinical Lab Technician or a related field.
- No prior experience required.

- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including alternate site assignments.
Skills

$25.30 - $46.05 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
