Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS II - PRN

About the role

Christian Hospital NW Health Care with BJC is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) to work as a Generalist. This role requires flexibility and availability for all shifts, including weekends and holidays. The position also covers the Siteman North Lab.

Responsibilities

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
• Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
• Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures, and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Affords technical and/or instrument problem assessment, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions, and selects an appropriate course of action to resolve the issue.
• Reports and maintains records of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and statistics.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Licenses & Certifications: ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

• Supervisor Experience: Preference given to those with less than 2 years of experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies.
• Ability to assess technical and/or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting malfunctioning instrumentation.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
