Medical Laboratory Scientist - MLS II (Part-Time, Nights)

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. Additional Information About The Role

Are you looking for a career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist - MLS II? Look no further than BJC! This position is a core lab technologist (blood bank, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry).

Responsibilities

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
• Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
• Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Affords technical and/or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree
• Physical/Life Science/related Experience: No Experience
• Licenses & Certifications: ASCP, AMT, AAB or equiv or elig

Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

• Supervisor Experience: < 2 years
