Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II
About the Role
Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to join its laboratory team as a Generalist. This role is ideal for an ASCP-certified laboratory professional who enjoys working in a collaborative hospital environment and performing a broad range of laboratory testing. The hospital is an acute care facility in St. Louis County offering a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services, with a 24‑hour adult emergency department and pediatric emergency care in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital. It is the first and only Magnet® hospital in St. Louis County (ANCC) and ranked #2 in the St. Louis metro area by U.S. News & World Report.
Responsibilities
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
- Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
- Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
- Assesses technical and/or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
