Position Duties/Requirements
- Performs phlebotomy, clinical laboratory testing in hematology, urinalysis, general microscopy, transfusion medicine, serology, bacteriology, coagulation, chemistry, blood gases.
- Collects samples for testing and adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Performs tests, procedures, and analyses as requested by the physician and in accordance with all regulatory regulations.
- Verifies and documents QC results, applies and documents corrective action and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and documents required repair of instruments.
- Ensures the use of AIDET with each patient interaction.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations pertaining to patient health information (PHI).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Biological Science, Chemical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or related occupation.
- ASCP, AAB, or AMT certified.
