About the role
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician responsible for performing and interpreting routine and specialized laboratory tests to aid diagnosis and treatment. Prepare, analyze, and record test results following standard protocols, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed and handle specimens with confidentiality and safety compliance.
- Adhere to regulatory standards, accreditation guidelines, and safety protocols, supporting continuous quality improvement.
- Manage supply inventory and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with team members and patients, demonstrating professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related biological/chemical sciences.
- Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license or equivalent, with certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB) obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Proficiency in computer skills, data entry, and communication.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Key Duties
- Performing accurate laboratory testing and quality control independently.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Participating in performance improvement and cost management activities.
- Adapting communication and procedures to diverse patient populations.
- Remaining informed of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to laboratory practice.
The role requires adherence to safety and confidentiality standards to maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
Physical demands include handling heavy objects and working in environments with exposure to potentially infectious materials and hazardous substances.
