Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology (Rotating Holidays and Weekends)

About the role

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist to perform laboratory testing, prepare specimens, and ensure accurate, timely results to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized tests independently while maintaining quality control and equipment calibration.
• Analyze and record test results, troubleshoot instrument issues, and escalate problems as needed.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, safety protocols, and accreditation standards.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and manage supply inventories.
• Adapt communication and procedures to suit diverse patient populations and maintain confidentiality.
• Support laboratory operations and adhere to all policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or related field (copy of transcript required).
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license or traineeship/license with obligation to obtain full license within 90 days.
• Certification from ASCP, AMT, or AAB as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist within 90 days of hire.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in data entry, Windows applications, and keyboard skills.
• Effective communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Good judgment and ability to resolve conflicts professionally.

Physical and Environmental Demands
