Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead (Chemistry)
About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead (Chemistry) position at Nemours is responsible for performing a variety of analytical procedures of moderate to high complexity, overseeing calibration, quality control, and process control functions. The role involves assisting in the development and validation of complex tests, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring rapid turnaround times for critical clinical issues.
Responsibilities
- Performs and oversees a range of clinical analyses using manual and automated methods.
- Validates and implements new complex tests in the laboratory.
- Assists with specimen collection, processing, and handling, including entering patient isolation rooms and handling infectious materials.
- Monitors pending logs and ensures rapid turnaround times for results.
- Operates, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Manages inventory and orders supplies as needed.
- Communicates with various stakeholders, including physicians, patients, and vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program required.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience required.
- Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent (ASCP, AAB or AMT) required.
Qualifications
Must be able to read and understand a variety of written material, check and verify information, and interact with a variety of individuals, including physicians, patients, and vendors.
Skills
Strong understanding of linearity, standard deviation, and ability to apply these concepts to analytical testing. Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
