Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead

Role Overview This position supervises laboratory assignments within the Microbiology department, ensuring workflow efficiency and quality standards. It involves performing a full range of tests, interpreting results, and communicating findings to physicians. The role requires operating complex equipment, maintaining instruments, and evaluating new testing methods. Supervision duties include planning, delegating, providing performance feedback, and assisting with medium to high complexity projects. Maintains laboratory safety, quality control procedures, and participates in proficiency testing. Continuing education and staying informed of developments are essential. Performs other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Minimum of two years' laboratory technical experience Proficiency in operating electronic and precision instruments Ability to interpret complex test reports and communicate findings effectively Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork skills Licenses & Certifications Valid professional license such as Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or equivalent, recognized by relevant state or national certifying bodies, including certifications in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, or blood banking. Physical & Other Requirements Ability to perform frequent lifting, standing, sitting, and repetitive movements. Visual and auditory acuity required for equipment operation and communication. Flexibility to handle occasional lifting of heavier objects and other physical tasks.
