Medical Laboratory Scientist - Laboratory Support - Night

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and/or specialized testing and procedures with supervision as appropriate.
• Operates a variety of laboratory instruments.
• Maintains quality control and instrument check procedures and related records.
• Inoculates, cultivates, classifies, and identifies microorganisms.
• Determines compatibility of donor blood products with intended recipient.
• Counts, describes morphology of, and performs specialized studies on blood and other body fluid cells.
• Performs coagulation testing.
• Prepares and maintains reagents and other solutions and stains according to standard formulas.
• Trains other employees in day-to-day procedures.
• Consults with medical staff and other health care providers on matters relating to laboratory services.
• Performs surveys and comparative analyses of work units; participates in research activities and investigates new products.
• Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.
• Identifies safety concerns, instrument issues, and other opportunities for process improvement, collaborating with others in problem solving.

Qualifications

• Completion of student clinical rotations.
• Required or College Transcript Required.
• Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree Required and College Diploma.
• Required Licenses: Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Medical Technologist - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Blood Banking - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Chemistry - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Cytometry - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Hematology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Microbiology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Specialist in Molecular Biology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Blood Banking - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Chemistry - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Hematology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Microbiology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Technologist in Molecular Biology - ASCP within 1 year, Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - AMT within 1 year, Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - AMT within 1 year, Certified Molecular Diagnostics Technologist - AMT within 1 year, Medical Technologist - ABOR within 1 year.
