Medical Laboratory Scientist - Laboratory *Days ( M-F , 8a- 5p) 40hrs/wk

About the Role

Precisely and accurately performs/evaluates a variety of technical procedures by utilizing accepted quality control techniques with automated, semi-automated, and/or manual methodologies. Performs diagnostic procedures in other laboratory sections and venipunctures as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related science field (chemical, physical, or biological science)
• Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
• One to Three years of clinical laboratory experience preferred
• Organizational skills to prioritize daily workload
• Written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups, and interact with employees at all levels within the Medical Center

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures accurately and precisely by following established department policies and procedures
• Enters test results accurately in the laboratory information system
• Calls “critical value” or “patient waiting” results within 10 minutes of test completion, documents details, and follows up as needed
• Evaluates test results to ensure technical accuracy
• Oversees the work of medical laboratory technicians
• Establishes quality assurance programs to monitor test result accuracy
• Maintains current knowledge of department processes, protocols, and procedures
• Pursues self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities
• Participates in committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management
