About the role
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I, II, or III / Medical Technologist to join our team. This position involves applying technical skills to perform a full range of sample tests and laboratory services under close supervision or general direction.
Responsibilities
- All Trains in and performs a full range of simple-to-complex sample testing and laboratory services.
- Trains in and performs patient specimen testing. Ensures sample suitability.
- Evaluates, judges and interprets test results and ensures accuracy.
- Trains and performs in accepting and processing samples for on-site testing or forwards to contracted reference laboratories.
- Identifies and resolves inconsistencies in patient results.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments. Ensures quality control and functionality of instruments.
- Prepares lab for inspection from regulatory institutions.
- Provides customer service for questions directed at the laboratory.
- Answers questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.
- Participates in continuing education programs.
- Maintains laboratory supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- Medical Laboratory Technician: An Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist I, II, Medical Laboratory Scientist III / Medical Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Non-supervisory - One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience.
- Supervisory - Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience.

- Knowledge of protocols and practices in infectious disease control.

Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician: Must obtain certification within 9 months of hire in the following: Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) OR Clinical Laboratory Technician (NCA) OR equivalent certification (as determined by a national credential certification agency).
- Medical Laboratory Scientist I, II, Medical Laboratory Scientist III / Medical Technologist: Must obtain certification within 9 months of hire in the following: Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA) OR equivalent certification (as determined by a national credential certification agency).
