Location: BSWH Hospital, College Station, TX – Laboratory Department. Shift: Variable (PRN preferred).

Responsibilities
- Performs and monitors a full range of laboratory tests and research in compliance with department procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
- Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Accurately reports test results.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
- Fosters effective communication and working relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
- Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
- Demonstrates and educates laboratory methods and technical skills to others.
Requirements
- ASCP MLS certification or equivalent as a generalist with at least 2 years of hospital experience (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- Less than 1 year of experience required (beyond certification).
- Certification from one of the following agencies: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI), or grandfathered HEW Licensee.
Accepted certifications include but are not limited to: ASCP-BB, ASCP-C, ASCP-CG, ASCP-CT, ASCP-H, ASCP-IH, ASCP-M, ASCP-MB, ASCP-SBB, ASCP-SC, ASCP-SH, ASCP-SM, CHS-ABHI, CHT-ABHI, CLS, HEW, MLS, MT, SCT, SCYM, SMB.
Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures.
- Statistical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
- Proficiency in performing laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
