Summary of Job Duties
The Medical Laboratory Scientist I (MLS I) performs routine and moderately complex laboratory testing on patient specimens to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Working under the supervision of laboratory leadership and in collaboration with pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, the MLS I operates laboratory instrumentation, ensures quality control, maintains regulatory compliance, and reports accurate and timely test results.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor's).
- ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous clinical laboratory experience
- ASCP certification
Job Requirements
- Processes and evaluates specimens and performs appropriate tests to assist with detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Records and evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly quality control issues in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor.
- Maintains safe work practices, follows all regulatory requirements and engages supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate.
- Assists with day-to-day operations of assigned section in Core Lab.

Salary
$33.76 per hour
