Medical Laboratory Scientist I- Chemistry- Evening Shift

Summary of Job Duties

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I (Chemistry) performs routine and complex laboratory testing in the Chemistry department to assist physicians and healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This position is responsible for analyzing patient specimens, operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, ensuring quality control standards are met, and reporting accurate and timely test results in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor's).
  • ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical laboratory experienceASCP certification

Job Requirements

Processes and evaluates specimens and performs appropriate tests to assist with detection, diagnosis, and treatment. Records and evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly quality control issues in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor. Maintains safe work practices, follows all regulatory requirements and engages supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate. Assists with day-to-day operations of assigned section in Core Lab. Perform other duties as needed.
