Medical Laboratory Scientist - Core Lab - Day/Evening/Night

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and/or specialized testing and procedures with supervision as appropriate.
• Operates a variety of laboratory instruments.
• Maintains quality control and instrument check procedures and related records.
• Trains, allocates, and monitors the work of other personnel.
• Performs surveys and comparative analyses of work units; participates in research activities and investigates new products.
• Inoculates, cultivates, classifies, and identifies microorganisms found in bodily fluids, exudates, skin scrapings, autopsy and surgical specimens.
• Determines compatibility of donor blood products with intended recipient.
• Counts, describes morphology of, and performs specialized studies on blood and other body fluid cells. Performs coagulation testing.
• Consults with medical staff and other health care providers on matters relating to laboratory services.
• Trains other employees in day-to-day procedures.
• Participates in department specific and/or system-wide projects of varying scope and duration.
• Assists in implementing policies and procedures for department operation.
• Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related science.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Technology or a related science.
• Preferred certifications include: Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP, Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP, Certified Medical Technologist - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Blood Banking - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Chemistry - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Cytometry - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Hematology - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Microbiology - ASCP, Certified Specialist in Molecular Biology - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Blood Banking - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Chemistry - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Hematology - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Microbiology - ASCP, Certified Technologist in Molecular Biology - ASCP, Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - AMT, Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - AMT, Certified Molecular Diagnostics Technologist - AMT, Medical Technologist - ABOR.
