Medical Laboratory Scientist
About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist, in their role as Testing Personnel, and the Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as General Supervisor, are responsible for performing and supervising laboratory testing. This role requires adherence to CLIA standards and a professional level of knowledge to interpret test results.
Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and record-keeping;
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing sample testing;
- Adequately adhere to quality control policies, document quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance;
- Identify and address issues affecting test performance or reporting;
- Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field;
- Certification: Medical Technologist (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred;
- Knowledge: Understanding of laboratory equipment and its operation, maintenance, and repair; analytical techniques;
- Skills: Independent working ability, evaluation of situations, multitasking, attention to detail, adherence to protocols;
- Abilities: Interpersonal skills, professional interaction, basic knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience: None required, but preference given to candidates with experience in laboratory sciences or medical technology.

Must have the ability to work independently, evaluate situations and act appropriately, multitask in a fast-paced environment, pay careful attention to detail, adhere to written protocols, and communicate professionally with various staff members.

Pay
Minimum pay for this position is $31.43 per hour. Base pay information offered will consider skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
