Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

Performs clinical laboratory tests and procedures, utilizing scientific principles, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Responsible for daily laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, quality control, reagent preparation, and troubleshooting. Ensures accurate interpretation of test results, distinguishes normal from abnormal findings, and communicates data effectively to relevant departments.

Responsibilities

• Manage laboratory disciplines such as instrumentation, supply inventory, and quality assurance.
• Perform complex laboratory tests with independence and precision.
• Identify, recheck, and alert staff to abnormal results.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and support to team members.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, and storage.
• Participate in protocol development, quality initiatives, and lab improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical or Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field; certifications from AMT or ASCP within one year preferred.
• Must have visual acuity and effective communication skills, with a commitment to teamwork, confidentiality, and safety standards.
