Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP

Job Summary

Meritus Medical Center, Inc., Hagerstown, MD is seeking multiple openings for Medical Lab Scientists, ASCP. This position involves performing laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

About the Role

Performs functional duties in the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases in the laboratory path of workflow. Must comply with CLIA standards, listed under 42CFR493.1495 for high complexity testing. Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and ensures maintenance is performed.

Responsibilities

• Handles and processes specimens according to established procedures.
• Performs and maintains records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested similarly to patient specimens.
• Identifies and reports problems affecting test performance or reporting, and takes corrective action or notifies supervisors.
• Ensures adherence to laboratory quality control policies and maintains accurate records.
• Uses general laboratory equipment and maintains basic computer skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
• One year of full-time clinical laboratory experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification or equivalent nationally recognized MT or MLS (ASCP) or equivalent categorical certification.

Pay

$28.20 to $41.97 per hour ($58,656.00 to $87,297.60 per year).
