Medical Lab Technician/UKHC
Job Summary
The Medical Lab Technician/UKHC will assist in the pre-analytical support for a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to various units including the Level I trauma center, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center.
This position is in the Central Processing/Receiving department within the Clinical Laboratory and the Processing/Receiving Department with the Emergency Department Laboratory. The MLT will handle specimen receipt, processing, and throughput while adhering to HIPAA requirements. They will also support other clinical laboratories and provide customer service for internal and external customers.
This is a team-oriented environment where the successful candidate should be able to multitask, troubleshoot, and solve problems independently or as part of a team. The CAP Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky uses state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs.
- Repetitive motion
- Utilizing a computer for long periods of time
- Ability to traverse campus to work at multiple locations
Shift
This position operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The primary shift will be determined by the department, but the candidate must be available to work rotating weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed by the department.

Preferred Education/Experience
- At least 60 hours of college credit completed
