Medical Lab Technician

About the Role

USPI South Texas Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated Medical Lab Technician to join our team. We have 25 beds, 8 OR rooms, and 3 ER rooms, and perform outpatient surgical procedures in Orthopedic and Spine specialties.

Responsibilities

• Performs correlation studies, linearity checks, and quality control monitors to assure compliance with CLIA, TJC, and CAP.
• Analyzes and summarizes test results on each testing process and submits to Lab Manager for review and approval.
• Performs maintenance on machines, tracks education/training needs, maintains supply inventory, and orders reagents.
• Performs troubleshooting as needed.
• Recommends supplies/equipment to enhance the program.

Requirements

• Two- or four-year laboratory science-related degree.
• Must be registered with ASCP or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an accredited laboratory or hospital environment.
• Experience with Point of Care Testing.
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff.
• Ability to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets for data reporting.
• Ability to detect color and color changes.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills.
