Responsibilities

• Accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Responsibility for documentation of all activities, monitoring supplies; compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and laboratory testing; face to face and telephone customer service; computer data entry and retrieval; workplace cleanliness and maintenance.
• Follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.
• Analyzes patient samples and evaluates the reliability of test results according to age, gender, and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.
• Performs calibration procedures, and analyzes and verifies the acceptability of Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
• Participates in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs.
• Performs and documents routine maintenance and minor instrument repairs.
• Performs Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems (LIS and HIS) computer functions involved in preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

• Education: Associates Biology or Associates Chemistry or Associates Other / Related Field or Other / Certificate Other / Related Field.
• Licensure/Certification: MLT(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT(AAB) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist or
