Medical Lab Tech - Atrium Health Huntersville PRN Nights

Part-time, non-benefits-eligible PRN night shift (7 pm – 7 am) position.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adhering to quality-assurance guidelines for equipment and work area; documents corrective action for any non-conforming event.
• Prepares reagents, maintains adequate supply of materials for test procedures, and manages inventory to reduce departmental waste and expense.
• Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities; identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves test-system issues through appropriate channels (e.g., contacts hotline for specialist support or schedules service when needed).
• Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, complying with all regulatory requirements (CAP, TJC, OSHA, etc.).
• Maintains clear, real-time communication shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues that may affect patient care or department operations.
• Participates in planning and implementing change through staff meetings, task forces, or projects.
• Performs laboratory analysis on received specimens to provide clinical information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
• Ensures overall quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of assigned technical duties.
• Willingly performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent education and training as defined by CLIA.
• MLT registry-eligible or equivalent required; MLT (ASCP/AMT) or equivalent certification required within one year of hire.
• MLT (ASCP/AMT) certification through U.S. military medical laboratory training programs by an accredited institution is acceptable.

Physical Requirements

• Works in a fast-paced clinical environment with biohazardous (infectious) materials, chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.
• Duties may involve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending, and lifting light (20 lb) to moderately heavy (50 lb) loads.

Pay

$24.10 – $36.15 per hour.
