Responsibilities

  • Uphold strict compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, TJC, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and adhere to best practices in laboratory testing.
  • Process patient samples efficiently, perform authorized tests, and report results accurately.
  • Certify and maintain relevant certifications, participate in annual training, competency assessments, and demonstrate satisfactory performance.
  • Conduct only authorized tests, ensuring alignment with education, training, experience, and technical skills.
  • Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures for specimen handling, test analyses, and reporting.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of patient test outcomes.
  • Implement and document quality control protocols, including instrument calibrations and maintenance.
  • Maintain proficiency testing records with the same rigor as patient samples.
  • Follow established policies for corrective action when test systems deviate from acceptable performance levels.
  • Identify and rectify or report issues impacting test performance or results.
  • Detect and address problems affecting test performance.
  • Escalate issues to technical, clinical, or directorial consultants as necessary.
  • Keep detailed records of all corrective actions taken when test systems fall outside established specifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: MLS certification through U.S. Military medical laboratory training programs, or equivalent certification within one year of employment.
  • Licenses & Certification: MLS certification with either ASCP or AMT, or obtained within one year of employment.
