About the Role
Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Conducts laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and analyzing results in an accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilities

- Conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages, ensuring accurate and timely execution, interpretation, and analysis.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus sufficient college/technical courses and clinical training to meet certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved agency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life/biological science (e.g., biology, biochemistry, microbiology) preferred.
- No prior work experience required; 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) required upon hire, in accordance with Georgia Department of Community Health regulations.
- Individuals who recently moved to Georgia or completed academic/training requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists for 18 months to complete an approved qualifying examination.
- AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
- Certification must be obtained within 1.5 years of hire.
