About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases by performing complex laboratory tests on patient specimens. They operate and maintain laboratory equipment, analyze test results, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of laboratory results.
- Participate in quality improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Support assay validation, verification, and implementation activities.
- Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory directors, and clinical teams.
- Contribute to Mayo Clinic's mission of delivering exceptional patient care through innovation and excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- MB(ASCP) certification preferred.
- Experience with NGS workflows and genomic analysis preferred.
- Experience in oncology molecular diagnostics preferred.
- Experience in a CAP/CLIA-regulated laboratory environment preferred.
