Bon Secours is a faith-based and patient-focused organization dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all people through exceptional patient care. The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and providing accurate laboratory results.
Responsibilities
- Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner, adhering to documented laboratory procedures.
- Determines the acceptability of specimens by visually inspecting them or recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
- Recognizes factors affecting measurements and results and takes appropriate actions according to protocols.
- Maintains quality control for all testing and ensures results are released only after meeting established ranges.
- Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, monitoring temperatures, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a CLIA-approved program.
- Certification: MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility from a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
- Experience: Completion of an externship program (preferred).
