About the role

Mercy Health seeks a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to perform routine tests on biological specimens, ensuring quality results and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on blood, tissues, and other body specimens in compliance with laboratory procedures
• Determines specimen acceptability by inspecting visually or recognizing abnormal/unusual results
• Identifies factors affecting measurements and results and takes appropriate actions according to protocols
• Maintains quality control for all testing and releases results only after meeting established ranges
• Monitors and troubleshoots laboratory equipment to ensure efficient operation
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, monitoring temperatures, and troubleshooting

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a CLIA-approved program
• MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility from a nationally recognized certification agency
• Completion of an externship program (preferred)
