Medical Lab Scientist / MLS

About the role

Variable-shift, full-time Core Lab Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) position located in Montclair, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures
• Conduct quality control
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Carry out minor equipment repairs
• Manage inventory control
• Compile statistical data
• Participate in quality assurance
• Engage in performance improvement
• Contribute to laboratory education
• Assist with new employee training
• Undertake proficiency testing when assigned

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science
• ASCP or equivalent certification
• Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment; if lapsed, the role downgrades to non‑certified MLS until certification is reinstated
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles

Pay

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
