Medical Lab Scientist I

Role Overview: A Medical / Clinical Lab Scientist responsible for performing accurate and timely laboratory testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, JCAHO, CAP). Key Responsibilities Conduct complex testing, calibrate instruments, and troubleshoot technical issues using advanced decision-making skills.Monitor and validate patient and quality control results, participate in quality assurance and process improvements.Manage inventory, contribute to departmental efficiency, and assist in financial data collection.Train and mentor staff, participate in committees or projects, and provide educational support to internal and external stakeholders.Handle specimen collection and processing, ensuring proper identification and specimen integrity. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, chemical, or biological sciences; certification (MLS or categorical) required. Foreign degrees evaluated for equivalency.Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy; experience in specimen processing preferred.Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and computer systems.Effective verbal and written communication skills, with leadership capabilities in absence of supervisory staff. Preferred Qualifications: MLS/MT certification, experience with specimen requirements, and additional education or experience in related fields.
