About the role
7 days on, 7 days off schedule: 12:30 to 22:00.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency.
- Conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and analyzing results in an accurate and timely manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus sufficient college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life/biological science (e.g., biology, biochemistry, microbiology).
- No prior work experience required; 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory preferred.
Qualifications
- Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations (required upon hire).
- For those recently moved to Georgia or recently completed academic/training requirements: temporary classification as a technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months to complete an approved qualifying examination (required within 1.5 years). AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
