Career Ladder
- MLS I: Level I - Less than 1 year of healthcare experience, performs routine testing, assists with quality control, and documents results.
- MLS II: Level II - 1-3 years of healthcare experience, expands on Level I duties, and assists with new hire training.
- MLS III: Level III - 4-6 years of healthcare experience, assists with SOP creation, staff scheduling, and process improvement activities.
Job Summary
Performs routine laboratory testing, assists with quality control, maintains documentation, and reports results accurately. Assists with troubleshooting and consulting with leadership on quality control issues.
Essential Functions
- Performs competencies, proficiency testing, quality control, maintenance, and authenticates results according to departmental procedures and regulations.
- Trains for new technology or testing as needed.
- Assists with troubleshooting and support for technical staff and vendors.
- Analyzes pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical quality control and specimen requirements.
- Consults with leadership on troubleshooting, investigations, and quality control issues.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Less than 1 year of healthcare setting experience for MLS I
- At least 1-3 years of healthcare setting experience for MLS II
- 4-6 years of healthcare setting experience or higher for MLS III
Licenses and Certifications
- MLSASCP-Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent - ASCP - American Society for Clinical Pathology
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in QC and competency requirements.
- Good communication and customer relations skills to ensure patient safety and quality processes in the laboratory.
- Ability to perpetuate teamwork, organize, and prioritize work within the department.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to troubleshoot testing, equipment, and quality issues.

Pay
$31.92 - $47.88 / hr
