Medical Lab Scientist-Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, Core Lab-Per Diem
About the role
Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adhering to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event. Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures, and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste and expense.
Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem-solving, and offering solutions to test systems through appropriate department channels, such as contacting a hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary to resolve issues or schedule service.
Assists with the review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities, including but not limited to CAP, TJC, and OSHA.
Maintains clear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns, and problems that may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
Participates in planning and implementing change through involvement in staff meetings, task forces, or projects. Participates in the competency assessment program, where qualified.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical Technology (MT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
- ASCP eligible
- Must provide a copy of BS diploma with MT or MLS specified on the diploma
- If MT or MLS is not specified on the diploma, must provide an official transcript
- If foreign diploma, must provide foreign equivalency documentation
