Medical Lab Scientist

About the Role

The Medical Lab Scientist performs a wide range of complex laboratory analyses to support accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing patient care. This role works across multiple laboratory disciplines—including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and blood banking—using advanced instrumentation and standardized testing methodologies. The Medical Lab Scientist ensures timely and precise test results by adhering to established quality, safety, and regulatory procedures, while collaborating with laboratory colleagues and clinical care teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform and validate complex laboratory tests across assigned clinical disciplines in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards.
• Monitor specimen integrity, quality control performance, and instrument functionality to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Document and report test findings promptly using the laboratory information system, escalating critical values per policy.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support ongoing operational readiness.
• Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and fellow laboratory personnel to address testing needs and support coordinated patient care.
• Participate in competency assessments, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
