Responsibilities
- Able to analyze and troubleshoot chemical and biological reactions to solve complex pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical problems.
- Effectively and efficiently report analyzed data to lab managers, MLS technical consultants, providers and pathologists.
- Absess competency of MLT and MLS employees.
- Assist MLS Technical Consultants in providing effective training to new employees and students.
- Perform standard laboratory analyses accurately according to published procedures and turnaround times.
- Validate results which includes, but is not limited to, recognizing questionable results, investigation of the cause(s) of questionable results and finally to take appropriate action regarding release of test result to customer.
- Communicate written and verbal information to customers regarding appropriate specimen collection, transport and test methodology.
- Able to interpret test results.
- Able to handle client service issues at all levels appropriately, courteously and effectively with a customer focus.
- Interpret, initiate, and comply with regulatory guidelines as required by regulatory agencies.
- Able to display competency in the following areas: Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Blood Banking, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Urinalysis.
- Able to utilize critical thinking for problem solving.
- Able to multitask effectively and accurately in a stressful environment.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent education.
- Certification as MLS (ASCP), or MT (ASCP), or equivalent.
- Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Qualifications

- Desired: Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
