Medical Lab Scientist, 3rd shift

About the role

The Medical Lab Scientist or MLT performs laboratory testing. They have knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitor and understand operation of instrumentation, and report results accurately and rapidly.

Responsibilities

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• P practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Able to recognize a problem by following prescribed strategies and make necessary corrections.
• Where no present criteria for decisions are available, will consult with supervisor/manager. In absence of supervisor/manager, will act to determine final decision.
• Cooksponds and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology preferred, Associates accepted.
• Licensure / Certification: Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
• Experience: Preferred, but not required.
• Effective Communication Skills
