Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic echocardiographic examinations in accordance with clinical and VA standards.
- Prepare, position, and educate patients while ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate and adjust echocardiography equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Review images for quality and completeness and communicate with physicians regarding additional imaging needs.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in the VA electronic medical record.
- Complete required quality management and performance improvement documentation.
- Follow patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, Privacy Act, and VA requirements.
- Participate in required orientation, training, continuing education, and competency programs.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
- Perform other duties as needed to support echocardiography and cardiovascular services.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing echocardiography/echosonography services.
- Current RCS certification through CCI or RDCS certification through ARDMS.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must successfully complete the AMI credentialing process.
- Must be fully trained and technically competent to perform all required services.
