Medical Imaging Patient Transporter

About the role

Works under direct supervision of the Imaging Technologist to coordinate transport of patient.

Responsibilities

• Works under direct supervision of the Imaging Technologist to coordinate transport of patient.
• Provides transport by cart or wheelchair to and from ED, Medical Surgical Unit, or other hospital locations using appropriate transfer techniques.
• Cleans carts and wheelchairs after each use.
• Cleans imaging exam room and changes linens after each patient; restocks as needed.
• Affords assistance to technologist as needed in exam suite.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification.
• Excellent and professional communication skills.
• One year experience in healthcare setting preferred.
• Possesses physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to stoop and lift, stand, and walk without restrictions.

Core Competencies

• Transports patients from patient care areas using proper lifting and transfer techniques and knowledge of use of wheelchairs, stretchers, and assisted walking.
• Knowledge of infection control practices in cleaning equipment used in patient transport.
• Understanding of requirements for patient identification and confidentiality.
• Applies patient safety standards and patient management methods.
